The three problems every newly planted seedling faces
Exposed soil, water loss and weed competition arrive before the roots take hold. How the Biodegradable Crown tackles each one.
A newly planted seedling on a restoration site faces three problems right away: exposed soil, water loss and weed competition. All three arrive before the roots take hold.
What happens around the seedling
Bare soil is left at the mercy of sun and rain. Water that should stay with the roots is lost, and nutrients go with it. Invasive weeds take over the surroundings and compete with the plant for all of it.
How the Biodegradable Crown works
Installed around the seedling, the Biodegradable Planting Crown tackles all three at once:
- Protects the soil from direct exposure
- Helps hold water and nutrients where the roots need them
- Keeps away the weeds competing with the plant
By stopping invasive grasses for up to 2 years , it also cuts manual weeding work.
Made of cellulose, it follows the natural cycle of the planting itself: it protects the seedling and breaks down in the soil. Less field maintenance, more seedlings reaching the tree stage.
